That being said, I feel like the game has aged nicely in that it still feels good to play. Combat system gets pretty fun when you've unlocked more skills. Youtube combo videos to get some inspiration and you'll know what I'm talking about! Character interaction is probably what makes this game so enjoyable for most people, and thank goodness the lead protagonist has such a realistic personality and isn't annoying. While some members can be a bit annoying at times, the story puts enough in to each character to allow you to at least sympathize with them. The story isn't going to blow you out of the water; however, some of this stuff I remember 10 years ago like "oh wow I liked this part!"
So be warned, and I'm going to try to minimize spoilers here: there are some very classic JRPG elements in this game, and unfortunately part of that comes with permanently missable quests. Unless you plan on playing new game + (which is how this game is meant to be played if you intend to be a completionist), then you should find a guide that'll walk you through all the quest triggers. Unlike a lot of other RPGs, there aren't any "quest logs." A certain character's spear has like 11+ steps and if you miss the first 1 or 2 steps, it doesn't matter that you did all the others -- the final few steps of the quest won't trigger in the game playthrough. I was 18 hours into my game before I realized this and just let it be.
Some people are a bit mad that all the original voice actors returned except for the guy who voiced the protagonist. All the original voiceover still exists, but the little bits of new dialogue is someone else. The new guy, does a pretty decent impersonation of the original actor, and odds are that most people won’t notice or care.
You’re not going to find anything ground breaking here. The story is fairly cliche, and every character feels ripped from a trope checklist, but it’s just too damn fun to pass up.
The first crash I encountered was after the Zagi fight in Flynn's room. This is one of the spots. It appears any dialog skits or dialog boxes that are repeated make the software/game forcefully close/crash. It's a good thing I saved before the Zagi fight.
If the fights are difficult for you, grind on easy mode. I recommend doing so, but note that for grade points you only get 0.00 points in easy mode. So right before a boss battle, make sure to switch it on normal to reap the grade points assuming you do well in the battle! Get the game and enjoy the ride!

The battle system is certainly something new to me and unexpected! It's not exactly free roam combat, like the further installments, but rather a Horizontal 1v1 format, with the occasional "evade" used against more than one enemy.
The overworld puzzles and interactions are also pretty fun, the VA cast, orchestra, and visual artists all did their jobs swimmingly and the almost none characters are tropey, which makes them all the more unpredictable and investing!
My only true complaint is the story itself! Unlike Berseria, there's really no immediate urgency to do any of the quest progression, at least however early I am within the game. The story is my only complaint, however since it's the driving force of the Adventure, I cannot give this game a 5 star rating, unless the game pulls a fast one on me and makes a cool story as well.
Overall a really fun time! It's multiplayer if you have 3 friends with pro controllers that don't mind waiting in the overworld to bump into bad guys! This is easily my favorite switch port!
