About this item
- DON'T BACK DOWN: Confrontations explores epic comic book Super-Villain vs. Heroes clashes with an exciting, all-new 2v2 format. Now two Super Heroes will take on two Super-Villains in a struggle for supremacy, using the Confrontation rules first introduced in DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals — Batman vs. The Joker. The rulebook contains 2-player and 3-player variant rules and rules for adding Rivals cards into the mix for even more Confrontational goodness.
- IT TAKES TEAMWORK: Confrontations debuts the Assist keyword, which may be played during your teammate’s turn, giving him or her that little extra boost. Each oversized Character has a 9, 12, and 15-cost version. As your opponents confront and knock you down, your cost goes up and your abilities improve as well, giving you a chance to make a dramatic comeback. If your team succeeds in knocking down an opposing 15-cost character, your team wins!
- VERSATILE GAMING: The game allows you to play Team vs. Team or Head-to-Head, including 2-player and 3-player variants, and is compatible with Rivals — Batman vs. The Joker. *Standalone game, but compatible with all games and expansions in DC Deck-Building Game series.*
- INSIDE THE GAME BOX: Inside Confrontations you'll find 180 Game Cards, 24 Oversized Cards 4 Turn Order Tokens, Rules, and features eight new oversized characters to play, with three versions of each.

Simple base system for beginners and with each expansion pack it adds a new optional gameplay mode! You can play the same way or you can change game modes, you can do versus with friends, or fight against the campaign, or team up with friends against other friends or co-op in the campaign story. There's so much to enjoy here, and the best part is that you could just buy any of the base sets and still just enjoy that without needing to get any other expansions.
Will be playing this with my groups of friends for many years to come. Looking forward to the new Dark Nights: Metal expansion coming this year (2020) too! Also shows there's a lot of support from the creators and fans along the years. Hope they keep adding more expansions and base sets etc.!
Eventually, we wanted a new version of the game and we were eyeing this one. The first night we got this game we all knew that we found our new addiction. The games 2v2 assist and confrontation aspect really makes it more strategic than the other games. Moves have to be planned way ahead of time and there is more of "personal" feel for the game when you're going against and trying to TAKE down the other players rather than just trying to accumulate more points than them.
So happy with the purchase and really hope they plan on releasing another big box expansion or variation of this game.
However, the "Confrontations" version of the DC deck-builder improves the base game greatly and is a HUGE step in the right direction for the DC series and game system (more so then the even the "Crisis" add ons!).. The 'confrontation' system, taken from the mini-DC deck-building spin-off "Rivals', turns this version of the DC card game into a much better, even solid, PvP team game, (with 2v2 being the recommended player count (there are rules for less included in the game). Adding the Rivals mechanic creates a game that has more focus, more strategy and WAY more fun then the base game. There's even the semblance of a theme! Who wouldn't want to take Superman and Wonder Woman vs Lex Luther and Ocean Master??
About the only complaint I have is some of the choices of villians/heros seems a bit underwhelming: NO JOKER, and NO BATMAN!!. Which means that the "Rivals" min spin-off game is now a MANDITORY purchase (which is basically a Batman vs Joker only version of Confrontations) for any true DC fan, which will run you an additional 25-30 bucks or so. The saving grace is that Rivals can easily be mixed in with the base Confrontations game! It woulda' been nice, however, if Cryptozoic had just included that game into the base set.
Confrontations turned the DC deck-builder from a game I would never play again (after about half a dozen plays), to a go-to 'filler' game for fans of super hero games, deck-builders and of course DC Comics fans in my group.
