The plastic on these parts seemed strong, I didn't feel like it might crack or break while I was working with it.
There were no casting flaws and all the necessary parts for installation were supplied except for the adapter pigtail which is bought separately.
During installation, all the parts fit tightly together and assembly was straightfoward.
Metra makes nice radio install kits, I would recommend.
Warning! With this particular kit, it snaps into place and the only way to remove the radio is to disassemble most of the dash.
Verify that everything works correctly before you slide the head unit all the way in and get that good click.
You need to remove a bit of the plastic which held the factory radio in place, both on the sides as well as on top. I wanted to remove as little as possible, but as much as necessary. During my first attempt to slide the whole assembly in it just clipped on 2 positions (instead of all 6). So I removed it again as it wouldn't had a good fit. I ended up removing the whole dash piece, dremeled quite a bit of plastic away, cleaned it, installed the radio onto it and made sure all 6 clips were in place. Once they snapped in the only way to remove the unit is to unscrew it from the Metra bracket, take it apart and then again fit it together once everything is out.
At the same time i prepared the wiring in the duct. I don't want to remove this thing again so I prepared all the wiring I would need to install a backup camera a later time.
Installing the big piece of trim with the kind of heavy unit already attached to it was a quite tricky. I had to connect 7 cables on the back, while holding it and then also guiding the wiring on the back into the duct so nothing gets squeezed.
But the final product is quite satisfying and I'm glad I made it!

Things to know:
1. This dash kit comes with minimal instructions, as in you are pretty much on your own.
2. You will need to modify the non-standard opening of your Ford vehicle (one of the few things the instructions state explicitly, without providing any guidance). For me, this meant using a Dremel to file away the bottom edge/ridge of the opening in its entirety and shave about 3/16" off the top edge/ridge.
3. This kit is essentially two side pieces that snap into place on the left and right edges of the double din opening with an (optional?) front piece of trim that can go either on the bottom or the top of the stereo to fill any leftover gap. The side pieces screw into the side of your stereo using screws that should come with the stereo. The front trim piece just gets pressed into place, with no other means of affixing it.
4. Make sure ALL connections are made and tested BEFORE sliding the stereo in place. Once snapped in, this dash mount is not designed to be removed. If I ever need to remove the stereo I will simply buy another dash kit and destructively remove this one (making sure not to damage the dash opening or stereo). This should be possible because it is just plastic.
I was able to achieve a nice, tight fit and am pleased with the final installation. One thing to note is that by design this dash kit results in the stereo being recessed a bit further than I would prefer. I didn't understand why all the installation photos posted on Amazon looked very recessed until I worked with this dash installation kit. That's just how this dash kit fits.

The thin filler strip can now be slid into place. It locks in behind the right and left trim pieces with a snap.
